 YOUTH GROUP – Grades 7-12
Youth meet at the St. Anthony School Building twice a month, September through May.

Activities include community and parish projects.

Youth Ministry offers several different activities throughout the year on and off the Church grounds along with diocesan events.

This is a great way for youth to gather and have a great time with other youth!

See bulletin for Youth Ministry Events.

Also, bimonthly “Youth Tracks” postcards are mailed out to registered youth in the parish.

 FAITH FORMATION: KINDERGARTEN – CONFIRMATION
SPIRIT & SAINTS FAITH FORMATION PROGRAM (SAS) is a cluster-wide Faith Formation Program set up for public school children in Grades K-9.  It also provides Sacramental preparation programming for all children in the three parishes of Holy Spirit, St. John Cantius and St. Anthony.  Each year 350-400 children and youth take part in a SAS sponsored event with the help and support of parents, clergy and many wonderful volunteers.

Registration for classes is done in the Spring of the year for the school year starting the following Fall.

Classes for K-9 are held Wednesday nights at 6:30 to 7:45 pm at the St. Anthony School Building, following a rough schedule of two consecutive weeks of classes followed by one week off.  Watch the bulletin for exact schedules; schedules are also distributed at the beginning of the school year to families participating.

Special Events:

Once every month during the school year, Spirit & Saints offers a presentation for parents and youth on topics of interest; including such things as depression, drug addiction, suicide, life after death, etc.  These presentations are held on Sunday nights at 7:00 pm at St. Anthony Parish Center.  Everyone is welcome, and there is no fee.

Parent Sessions:

Once or twice a year, the ministry staff of the cluster will offer a night exclusively for parents to educate them on the latest issues concerning children, keep them informed of developing trends and to encourage and support them in their critical mission of parenting our youth.  These will be announced in the bulletin, and flyers will be sent home with the students.

SACRAMENTAL PROGRAMS - FIRST RECONCILIATION AND FIRST EUCHARIST
In their second grade year, students from both the Catholic schools and the public schools gather together to prepare for the Sacraments of Reconciliation and First Eucharist.  The meetings, and the events themselves, are organized on a parish basis, but all events are open to anyone in the cluster.  First Reconciliation usually occurs in December and First Eucharist in April or May.

 SACRAMENTAL PROGRAM - CONFIRMATION
In Confirmation, the Cathedral students join us as we review faith formation in a new way, reflecting their increased maturity level.  These students meet every week at St. John Cantius for a 13-week session in either the Spring or the Fall.  Students have other requirements as well, including a journal to complete with a mentor and a Service component.  Starting in the 10th grade year, the students can take as long as they want to prepare for the sacrament.  When the students have completed the requirements, they will be included in the next Confirmation group.

 VOLUNTEER CATECHISTS
Volunteers for teaching, being a classroom aide, hall monitoring, cross walk guard, and office staff are a yearly need in the Faith Formation Program. There is a tuition reduction program for all volunteers to the program.  Catechists can also receive enrichment sessions toward certification as well as specific training for the grade level taught.  Please let us know if you are interested.
